Breakfast Scones


 
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp. baking powder 
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 3/4 cup cold butter
  • 1 cup buttermilk
In a large mixing bowl, combine flours, brown sugar, baking powder, and baking soda. Cut in butter until coarse and crumbly. Stir in buttermilk. On a floured surface, knead dough 10 - 12 times just until no longer sticky. Divide dough in half, shape into 8-inch circles. Cut into wedges. Separate wedges and place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 400º for 15 - 18 minutes.
